Tucked into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this home was designed with a simple idea in mind: it should feel like it has a story.

At the heart of the property is a beautiful timber frame that gives the main house its character and warmth. But the home was never meant to feel like a traditional timber-frame house frozen in time. Instead, the design brings together time-honored craftsmanship with modern details, creating a home that feels as though it has evolved naturally over the years.

It’s a legacy home; one designed to be lived in, gathered in, and passed down.

The main house is a timber frame, with the exposed structure taking center stage in the main living space. There’s something special about seeing the timber overhead. The craftsmanship becomes part of the architecture, giving the room a sense of permanence and connection to the land. And while the setting itself is grand, the interiors were designed to feel comfortable and intimate. That balance is what makes the home so inviting.

The timber frame gives the home its historic character, while more contemporary details and softer finishes bring it into the present. Rather than making everything look brand new, the design allows the materials and details to feel layered, as though the home has been added to and cared for over generations.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by timber, water, and the landscape beyond, this home feels right at home.
